What is POS?

POS stands for Point of Sales. Just as it says, this is the actual point in sale. The actual point where you interact with the customer and exchange products/money. Something of value. The actual point where sales take place.

Point of Sale Systems have become a fundamental part of retail and small businesses. Point of Sale(POS) Systems have been developed for several years not only to replace cash registers but to be used as a powerful management tool.

A POS System is any machine that takes care of this "Point of sale". Everything you would do from exchanging money to checking items, will be done through this system. While these systems are supposed to make our lives easier, many of them make our lives more complicated. Sure it looks fancy at a store, but it is not worth buying if it doesn't save you time and money.

The Advantages of POS Systems

-The amount of inventory right away up to date, when to buy more, what is moving and what is not.

-Sales reports by service representative, by department, by item, by invoice, by season, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, you name it.

-Your customers' information and special interests.

-How much are you spending in all those little extra expenses.

By getting a POS System you are getting a money making machine. How? Well, first by improving your margins, because your employees will ring the correct price you have set for a product, you also improve your margins by knowing when and what to order, reducing shipping costs and taking advantages of suppliers promotions. Then, you have total inventory control, the POS System allows you to know accurately what you have on hand, what you need and when you need it, getting total control of your capital.

Overall it will be translated into a time and money saving machine. You will increase your sales first by knowing what is that your customers are buying right away and increase your profit gaining the flexibility and power of a large chain store. POS system will help you reduce your operating costs by reducing the re-ticketing of items, time spent with your accountant, over-staffing, yearly physical counts, etc.
