Are you using a GV-data capture box or GV-NET card? If so, connect the POS system directly to the GV system (DVR server in most cases). Then you will use hyperterminal to recieve the text transmitted to the GV system. If its still garbage, most likely there is an issue with your connection. For example, cables can be bad and you will need to replace them...make sure they are PC based serial cables.
