What kind of null modem cable do I have to use to connect my MOBOTIX camera with another device (e.g. a PC)?

ANS:
There is no specifically prescribed wiring for a null modem cable. When you buy or create such a cable, make use that it has the correct pin assignment.

The MOBOTIX camera expects a null modem cable with the following pin assignment:

Code:
M1M                                               PC
9pol  (female)                           25pol 9pol  (female)
  1   -24Vout-                 --DCD-------  8   1
  2   ---RxD--------. ,----------RxD-------  3   2
                     X
  3   ---TxD--------' `----------TxD-------  2   3
  4   ---DTR--                 --DTR------- 20   4
  5   ---GND---------------------GND-------  7   5
  6   ---DSR--                 --DSR-------  6   6
  7   ---RTS--                 --RTS-------  4   7
  8   ---CTS--                 --CTS-------  5   8
  9   --Input-                 --RING------ 22   9

You shouldn’t use any other pin assignment.

Note: Using a null modem cable between the camera and a PC is only advisable in certain cases: e.g. when the connection to the network has to be made using PPP via the serial interface instead of via Ethernet.

Note: The serial interface, the switch input and switch output cannot be used with the MOBOTIX Basic and Web models.
