Full Version: How do I have to set a manageable switch when I am connecting a MOBOTIX camera?

The MOBOTIX M1 and M10 models are equipped with a 10-Mbps Ethernet interface that is operated in half-duplex mode. A switch must be able to support this mode. Newer switches support 10/100 Mbps in full and half-duplex mode and adjust themselves automatically. For manageable switches, select the following setting: automatic. The switch will then automatically adjust the setting to the one needed for the camera (this is often indicated by LEDs at the port or in a menu).

If it is not possible to select an automatic setting, the switch must be set to 10 Mbps half-duplex. For this type of transmission, collisions in transmission, which are sometimes indicated on the switch by an LED, are normal and unavoidable.

IMPORTANT: Even if the switch is set incorrectly (e.g. 10 Mbps full-duplex), a connection can apparently be made between the switch and the camera (ping is answered). However, so many transmission errors will occur in actual fact that no notable transmission rate will be reached.
