Scenario: All the sudden Windows stops at the Welcome screen when there is power loss or Windows DVR server restarts. Windows XP wants you to select a Userid to login. No Desktop loaded and Surveillance software can not monitor anything since it can not run yet.
Solution: This is happening on Windows XP with recent updates. To solve this: Click Start => Run and type "control userpasswords2" then hit OK. Uncheck the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password ...", then hit OK.

Reboot the Windows DVR to test automatic loading of Desktop and Surveillance console.
